7/14/25: Ethan Holliday's MLB Draft Interview, Ben Shelton's Road to Centre Court, Home Run Derby

👏 Why the Hollidays are the Ultimate Baseball Family

Greg Olsen Uncovers Holliday Family Secrets
[LINK] The Holliday family is baseball royalty. Father Matt was a seven-time MLB All-Star and Jackson was the No. 1 pick in the 2022 Draft by the Orioles and the top prospect in baseball before being called up for good last season. Now Ethan is the next in line and was just drafted No. 4 overall by his father’s old team—the Colorado Rockies.
Greg Olsen recently sat down with all three Hollidays to try and uncover any family secrets about developing as baseball players. Yes, good genes help, but at the end of the day there’s no substitute for hard work and grit.'
“If your kid has a passion to practice then they have a chance to pursue [their sport] at a high level,” Matt Holliday said.Â
As Matt moved around the country, he looked for youth coaches who would help his sons develop. His best advice to parents is finding people who put development over winning.
“Try to do your research and find out if people had good experiences with [coaches or clubs],” Matt Holliday said. “An emphasis on teaching kids how to play the right way was important to me and should be important to parents.”
💡Ben Shelton’s Road to Centre Court Involved Being a Kid First

A Lesson in the Kid Led Journey
[LINK] Ben Shelton wasn’t your typical tennis prodigy. Despite having a father that played on the pro tour and was a college head coach, he didn’t start playing seriously until he was in his early teens.Â
Shelton wanted to be a kid and play other sports, especially football, where he was a heck of a quarterback. Shelton decided to play tennis in college for his father at the University of Florida. By that time he had grown to 6’4” and started to realize that tennis could be a career. Shelton led the Gators to a national championship in 2022 and in the process captured the NCAA singles title.
Just 18 months later, he was playing on Centre Court at Wimbledon against eventual champion Jannik Sinner. Shelton credits his rise to his father, who recently left his job at Florida to be his son’s full-time coach, and his overall development.
“I was pretty underdeveloped when I got to college. I had a lot of holes in my game,” Shelton told The Guardian. “I was a little bit of a mental case on the court, I got angry pretty easily. I learned fairly quickly to straighten things out and figure out how to be a good teammate, fly under the radar when I needed to, and have less of those outbursts or bad practices or missing a workout because I was sleeping in.”
🤣 From Little Leaguers to Legends: Nothing Beats that Home Run Feeling

Epic Home Run Swings
[LINK] Everybody loves the long ball. While the major leaguers showcased their skills last night in Atlanta, Youth Inc. scoured the Internet and social media to find young ballplayers going yard.
From T-ballers to little leaguers, coach pitch to the 60-90 diamond, we found some epic home run swings.Â
Start in the living room (with a plastic ball, of course, mom), advance to the back yard and then the diamond. One thing is for certain: nothing beats the feeling and excitement of a home run.Â
