Baseball recruiting has gone digital. Today, athletes aren’t just showcasing their skills on the field—they’re also doing it on social media. A strong social media presence can be the difference between staying unnoticed and getting on a scout’s radar.

Posting well-made highlight videos, showing off work ethic, and demonstrating leadership off the field can all help players stand out. To help athletes and families navigate this fast-changing space, the Youth Inc. staff dug into expert tips and recruiting insights to uncover how players can use social media to stand out.

Here are four great resources to help you understand how social media has changed how the recruiting landscape.

How to Make a Great Highlight Reel

What it is: A practical guide from recruiting experts that breaks down how to create a standout highlight video, including what plays to feature, how long the video should be and the importance of quality over flashy edits.

Why we like it: Not everyone is a video editor—and that’s okay. This guide breaks the process down into six simple steps, making it easy for any athlete or parent to create a clean, effective highlight reel that gets noticed.

These Social Media Platforms Can All Help You

What is it: This video from the Baseball Bluebook App breaks down why staying active and intentional on platforms like X is key to getting on a recruiter’s radar. It also discusses how the Bluebook App lets athletes centralize their videos, stats and academic info into profiles that coaches can easily access.

Why we like it: This gives clear, actionable advice on where and how to post content to get noticed. We also like how the Bluebook App simplifies the recruiting process by putting everything coaches need in one place.

How to Use Social Media For Recruiting the Right Way

What it is: This video from Recruiting with Alex breaks down which social media platform is best for recruiting and how to build your social media profile so college coaches can not only notice you but be engaged with your page.

Why we like it: We like how Alex keeps it simple: X is where most coaches are, and having a clean profile with a pinned video, verified metrics, and the right bio can really make you stand out.

A D-I Head Coach Explains How He Uses social media in Recruiting

What it is: In this Youth Inc. video, Coach RAC sits down with Seton Hall baseball coach Rob Sheppard to talk about what high school players should (and shouldn't) be posting on social media if they want to play at the next level.

Why we like it: Coach Sheppard makes it clear—your social media is part of your recruiting resume. Game clips, real in-game moments, and training highlights can help coaches evaluate you. But mixing that in with unrelated or unprofessional content? Not a good look. Treat your page like your personal scouting report.
