College ice hockey is divided into Division I (DI) and Division III (DIII). These divisions differ not only in skill level but also in recruitment processes and scholarship opportunities. Both offer great chances for players to continue playing the game they love, but it’s important for players and parents to understand the differences before diving in. There is also often a lack of resources that focus on or include women’s NCAA hockey, particularly when it comes to the high school to college transition.

Below are three resources to understand the key differences between DI and DIII in women’s college hockey. Including resources on how players, parents, and coaches can know if a player would be a good fit for college hockey.
