As the sports season wraps up, you might find yourself catching your breath for the first time in months. The gear is finally out of the car, although it still smells. The schedule is (somewhat) calm. And underneath the relief, there’s something else too; something harder to admit.

You’re tired. Not just physically, but emotionally worn out from the constant going. The early mornings, the endless driving, the weekends in crappy hotels, muddy fields and folding chairs. You showed up over and over; for practices, for games, for the moments that mattered to your kid. And in the process, it’s possible you lost a little piece of yourself.

Maybe you didn’t expect to feel resentful. Maybe you thought loving your kid and supporting their sport would always feel fulfilling. But the truth is, parenting through youth sports is demanding. It costs time, energy, identity. It costs slow, quiet mornings and weekends away and the kind of rest that’s hard to come by when your life is built around someone else’s schedule. Especially if you work full time like me.

If you’ve felt it, any of it, know this: you’re not alone. You’re not a bad parent for being tired. You’re not selfish for wishing you had more time for yourself. You’ve done something extraordinary: you gave your time, your money, your presence, your encouragement … again and again, without fanfare.

Now, as the season ends, let this be a reset. Reclaim something for yourself. Take stock of what you need before it all starts up again. Let the quiet remind you that your life matters too. Do something fun for yourself!

And when next season comes around, maybe you’ll cheer just as loud–but with a little more margin, a little more support and a little more grace for yourself.

You’ve earned that.
